We understand the importance of preserving your new color - whether it be a bright vivid or a bright blonde! Here are our tips for how to maintain your color in between salon visits!

Hair Color Care FAQ

What shampoo + conditioner should I use?

Choose quality products that are color-safe to maintain your color! At our salon, we love (and sell!) the brands k18 and Kevin Murphy! Color-depositing conditioner and shampoos can help preserve and enrich vivid color between salon visits. Deep-conditioning, moisture masks and glossing treatments can help preserve color as well as prevent dryness and breakage. For highlighted hair, purple shampoos and conditioners can help neutralize brassy warm tones in between salon visits. These should only be used as needed as to prevent overcorrecting, resulting in purple-pigmented highlights.

What other products should I use?

Always use a heat-protectant spray before using any hot tool (this includes your blow-dryer)! Also try to keep your tools set to low or medium settings. This not only can help preserve your color but also prevents unnecessary damage to the hair itself.

How often should I wash my hair?

For best results, we recommend washing your hair no more than 2-3 times per week. Over-washing not only strips the color from your hair faster, but also removes the natural oils your body produces to help protect and maintain your hair's health. Washing your hair with cold to lukewarm water can also help prevent from opening the hair cuticle and causing color pigment to seep out faster.

What other tips should I follow?

Avoid chlorine, UV exposure, and overusing stripping products to help maintain your hair's health. Following steps to preserve the integrity and color of your hair will not only help you out, but also your stylist when you visit with us again!

How long should I wait in between salon visits?

Your stylist will recommend how often you should wait between appointments based on your hair color, lifestyle, and budget! If you have any questions, feel free to ask your stylist or reach out to the salon.

Hair Extension FAQ

How should I brush my extensions?

Start brushing from the ends of your hair and work your way up to the roots. Hold the base of the extensions to avoid pulling on the bonds or wefts. Brush your hair 2-3 times a day to prevent tangling and matting. Always use a soft-bristle brush or a wide-tooth comb specifically designed for extensions. This prevents tangling and minimizes stress on your extensions. We recommend an Unbrush. Be especially gentle when brushing near the wefts to avoid loosening the ties.

How should I style my extensions?

Opt for loose braids or buns when sleeping or exercising to minimize friction and tangling. While minimal heat exposure is ideal, applying a heat protectant spray, avoiding direct heat on the bonds or tapes, and setting your tools to a medium heat setting will help preserve your extensions and natural hair.

What products should I use?

Choose shampoos, conditioners, and styling products that are specifically formulated for extensions. Look for products that are sulfate-free, paraben-free, and alcohol-free to avoid drying out the hair. Keep products light, as heavy or oil-based products can cause the hand-tied wefts to slip or become weighed down.

How should I wash my hair?

Wash your hair in a downward motion, being careful not to rub or twist the hair excessively. Focus on cleaning your scalp and gently cleanse the extensions. Apply a moisturizing, sulfate-free conditioner from mid-length to the ends of your hair. Avoid the roots and attachment points to prevent slipping or loosening of the extensions. Gently squeeze out excess water with a microfiber towel. Avoid vigorous towel drying, as this can cause tangling. Allow your hair to air dry whenever possible, or use a blow dryer on a cool, low setting.

What other tips should I follow?

Regular salon visits are essential to maintaining healthy, beautiful extensions. We recommend every 6-8 weeks. To preserve your hair between visits, consider purchasing a silk pillowcases to reduce friction, tangling, and matting while you sleep. Aim to wash your hair 2-3 times a week at most, as any more could over-wash the extensions and cause damage. Chlorine and saltwater can damage and discolor your extensions. If you plan on swimming, protect your hair by wearing a swim cap or applying a leave-in conditioner before entering the water.
